Orienteering Exercise: Small circle - Big circle
Key information
A course is given, and for each control in the course, there is a small ring denoting the attackpoint. In the forest, the attackpoint is marked by an orienteering flag, and the real control is only mared using a piece of paper. The runner shall run with relatively high speed to the attackpoint, and then continue carefully to the control.
Aim: | There are three aims with this training: (1) To be able to identify attackpoints (given by the small ring in this exercise). (2) To train the ability to take an accurate compass course from the attackpoint and into the control circle. (3) Focus on the fine orienteering inside the control circle. The next step after this training is the Attackpoint identification training. |
---|---|
Variants: | A variant of this training is the Attackpoint identification training, in which the runner must find the attackpoint themselves - and more precision is required for the compass part as an area is whited out. |
Aids: | None required. |
Terrain: | No special requirements. |
Preparations: | |
Tips: | For inexperienced runners, you should first try the "small circle - big circle" training, and then proceed to the attackpoint identification training. |
